Sindhi indian
I think sindhis are not as loud as punjabis(partly because its a smaller community), and hence its assumed that they do not care. Not a single museum they’ve made in India or elsewhere to document their experiences I agree with one of the comments of OP and acknowledge that initially rebuilding was the only priority and religion and culture was not, i will also agree that the language is not really enforced on us in current times as well but you too have to understand where does it come from and dont just generalise it, there have been collective efforts by many of our elders to promote the culture, it is not visible as its not political, maybe if we had political representations here the state of the sindhi culture and language would have been better.ītw there were also attempts in the past to change our script here by the government, however the elders dint let that happen as it would indirectly change the culture.Īlso, sindhi is an official language of india, it is only because of the efforts of the people themselves, if they dint care they wouldnt have taken this effort, right?Īnd we are an ethnic minority making up not even 1% of the population and upon that we are scattered in different parts of india, so better not compare it with punjabis who are in crores and have a state and many political representations.īut I’ve seen that the hue and cry Muhajirs create over their ancestors’ experience in India or the wistfulness with which Punjabis talk about United Punjab, that is missing in Indian Sindhis who just left and never looked back.

The capital of Sindh is Karachi and it borders India to the east and the Pakistani provinces of Baluchistan and Punjab to the west and north respectively and the Arabian Sea to the south. It is also home to the Indus Valley Civilisation. Sindh is known for its distinct culture which is strongly influenced by Sufism, an important marker of Sindhi identity. It is also known as the Valley of Mehran. The word Sindh is derived from the Sanskrit term Sindhu (literally meaning "river"), which is a reference to Indus River which flows into the Arabian Sea from this land. Sindh ( سنڌ ) is located in the southeast of Pakistan. This sub is dedicated to the province of Sindh and its people.
